Quite often a second pair of eyes will help clarify your ideas. A working demo can be a great help, too. I'm available to discuss your concept or to implement it with a working demo. Rapid Application Development (RAD) is normally a process that requires having something working that you can use to determine what you really want. Unfortunately, Rapid Development often means taking design shortcuts that will bite you later on. Better to think through things a bit ahead of time.
On the other hand, too much thinking ahead can cripple your project by including to many concepts that are not needed for what you need to accomplish now. This is the curse of object oriented design. The blessing is that you can usually refactor existing objects to accomplish almost any future requirement. However, you do need to be at least a little forward thinking when you first build your objects.
Need some web pages designed? I can do it.
Need a place to put your web pages? I can host you.
Need custom web programming? The next wave in programming is Web programming. Although applets have a certain charm, I believe the future is going to be more oriented on servlets, occaisionaly working with applets. To create Web programs for you I'll use NetRexx, a language which produces Java compatible byte code.
Have you got a mystery database -- you know what data is in there but you can't get it out? I can dig into it and either translate it to an industry standard format or write a special program to get you into it.
Or maybe you'd like to implement a special database. You work out some screens and send them to me. I'll review them and lay out what kind of database structure you need to support what you want. I can go on to develop the application, or I can simply assist and tutor you as you work out the details.
Perhaps there's some complex algorithm you'd like to see demonstrated in code -- code that is tested, commented, and works.
Have you got a huge database that's hiding information you know should be there, or perhaps you want to analyse what's there and are not sure about what statistical tools to use. Again, I can came to your rescue.
Whatever your programming chore, I'll get back to you quickly -- if I can't do it, I'll let you know, and if I can do it, I'll jump right in. Have keyboard, will cybertravel.
